I can't believe it's been more than two months since my last post. There has been a LOT going on, but most of it happening at Latitude 39 and below, so I didn't bother!
After two months "Outside" we are now installed back at Rosie Creek in Fairbanks, in our sweet little log cabin that overlooks the Tanana River and--on a good day--the Alaska Range. Just a quick update for now:
After two months "Outside" we are now installed back at Rosie Creek in Fairbanks, in our sweet little log cabin that overlooks the Tanana River and--on a good day--the Alaska Range. Just a quick update for now:
- It is COLD and DARK here. Yes, this is no different than last year, but it seemed to come as a bigger shock this time since we were down "in America" during the transitional autumn months. Nonetheless, it is wildly beautiful! The sky is always in a pastel state of sunrise, crystalline snow covers everything, and the dark nights make a perfect backdrop for Lady Aurora.
- The lost cabin reported on last year has apparently not been found. Reward posters still abound.
- I managed to convince a few Parkwest flying customers to experience a real adventure: an Alaskan Winter. Stay tuned for reports on January's "Arctic Quest" trip, an 11-night group tour to highlight dog sled racing, the aorura borealis, the pristine winter wilderness, Athabascan culture, the sport of curling, and MORE!
